Happy New Year 2023!

The bright winter sun shining through the bare tree branches over snow blanketed Demeter Springs Farm.
Winter at Demeter Springs Farm.

We hope all of you have had a safe, healthy, and lovely holiday season, as well as new year!

After our last market of 2022, we hunkered down getting to several farm tasks before winter storm Elliott hit us. We upgraded our main chicken coop and prepared as best as we could. The only issue we had was a busted pipe in the guest house, but we found it quickly enough for some level of damage control. We will have some repairs to do, but really we were quite fortunate compared to so many others. We were certainly happy to have the warm weather for the new year as a break. During the liminal time in between Christmas and the new year, I tend to take it as easy as possible to recharge. I took a bit of a break from social media and bookkeeping work, but now I feel ready to take on 2023 with the hopes of it being better than the last couple of years!

We are researching new markets to sell at this year. We will still be at the Nashville Punk Rock Flea Market this year, and we have already signed up to be at the Apple Festival in Murphysboro, IL this September again. I'm sure we will be at Nashville Pagan Pride this fall again, as well. Other than that we are looking at new fairs, festivals, and markets to be a part of, so if you have any within 2 hours of Paris, Tennessee to suggest, we'd love to hear from you!

Other than finding new markets to sell at, we are working on finishing our nursery space this month so we can be inspected to get our license to finally sell nursery plants. I am very excited for this. I love making apothecary products, but I have really wanted to sell plants. I was sick all December 2021, January and February 2022, and therefore was unable to get herb beds planted in time last year. I'm doing well this winter season, however, and I definitely plan on getting herbs planted to dry and sell on some sort of level. I do plan on expanding the apothecary products a smidge, too. I want to bring back products we sold before the shutdown again, like oil cleansing blends, more infused herbal oils, bath teas, facial steam teas, and chakra blends. I also want to start selling more cosmetic products like herbal facial toners, liquid soaps, and more lotions. Lots of goals and plans, but I am a practical Taurus and also plan to keep it reasonable and not take on too much. Remember if there are any products you would like to see us sell, please do let us know!

We sincerely hope this new year shakes off the funk of the last couple years for all of you and that we all are showered in blessings of health and prosperity for all of 2023! Astrologically speaking, the stars are moving along to better positions. I'm hoping that's a good sign. We'll keep everyone posted on any farm updates as they come up. Be sure to follow us here on the website and/or on our Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook accounts to see those updates.

Stay well and botanical blessings!
